AGM and Gala Dinner Awards 2024

The Institute of Vehicle Recovery AGM  took place on 2 March 2024 in Stratford-upon-Avon.

A popular Honorary Membership was awarded to IVR Fellow, Peter Martin, who had been part of road transport and rescue and recovery since 1968 and an IVR member since the inception of the Institute in 1983.  Peter was the IVR chairman and was one of the original industry instructors featuring in the Life on the Edge series of films and he was involved in developing some of the original IVR modules.  He will be sorely missed as he eases into his well-deserved retirement.

Fellowships were awarded to Philip Leslie and Stephen Leslie from R&S Recovery. Fellowships (FIVR) are awarded to members of the Institute who in the view of the IVR Council had given outstanding service to the IVR and/or the industry as a whole.

The Jack Ovenden award for Student of the Year, was sponsored by the AA. The eventual winner of the award was Jack Silver from Midhurst Engineering.

The prestigious Bill Jackson Award was presented to Manchett’s Recovery, who had shown the methods they used to recover a digger from the sea.

A first class job and well deserved winner of the 2024 Bill Jackson Award was presented to Steve Kelly of Crouch Recovery .  The job involved an overturned crawler crane at a HS2 site, a large crane, delicately winched and manoeuvred end on end so no additional damage was added to the casualty

The prestigious IVR Gold Truck Award was presented to the Morgan family from Midhurst Engineering for their professional contribution to the industry, their investment in their people through training and development and their strong support of the work that the IVR does.  The Morgan family proved popular award winners and were on hand to receive the Gold Truck which had recently been refurbished.
