VR27c - IVR L3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicles – High Voltage Isolation
Description | VR27c covers the vehicle recovery technician’s considerations when handling and storing these types of vehicle and covers the isolation/reinstatement of the high voltage system in order to remove a component part. It is aimed at heavy recovery technicians, especially those who remove commercial vehicles (including buses) that require isolation, where there is not a better way to stop the generation of power, as a result of the wheels turning but will suit any situation where isolation of the high voltage system is required. It is not for general, light vehicle recovery. Key Learning Outcomes • Health and safety requirements applicable to electric and hybrid vehicles • Differences between internal combustion and high voltage vehicles • The principles of hybrid and electric vehicle operation • The potential hazards with high voltage vehicles • Understand realistic vehicle recovery operator issues, including storage Practical Learning Outcome • Explain a low voltage disconnect and low voltage boost start, thermal checking and recording • Demonstrate isolation/reinstatement of the high voltage system in order to remove a component part |
